JP Morgan Chase (PW Job Shadow 2020/21)

Investment Banking Analyst Intern

June - August 2021 • New York City, NY

What I liked

Companies I worked with, the client meetings I was able to attend, how some analysts took me under their wing to help me learn

What I wish was different

Long hours, little flexibility in deciding work. Wish we had overtime pay

Advice

Don't go into investment banking unless you know you want to pursue finance or something related to the group you're interested in. It might be easier to directly go into the field or industry as opposed to doing investment banking.

Financial Analyst Intern

June - August 2021 • New York City, NY

What I liked

I loved working with them because I got to learn a lot and grow as a financial analyst. Training was very hands-on and there were a lot of social events as well.

What I wish was different

I had such a great experience so there's not much I would change. I wish more of the internship was in-person because mine was partly online.

Advice

I would say network very well within the organization. Go for coffee chats and socialize instead of just focusing on work.

Markets Summer Analyst

July - August 2020 • New York City, NY

What I liked

The program was very well done - especially in a virtual environment. I was on the trading track of the program, so we interviewed for which desk we would be on once getting into the program. Everyone in the firm was very nice and willing to meet over zoom to chat or help in any way. I learned a lot through projects and the teams I worked with.

What I wish was different

Honestly, nothing! Well, besides the obvious fact that I was in my room all summer on zoom rather than in the New York office!

Advice

Meet as many people as you can in the office and learn from them. Follow up with them and ask for projects you can do to make their lives easier! Try not to stress about getting a return offer, but rather show up doing your best work everyday. If you care, and do your best, it will show!

Software Engineer

April - May 2020 • Galloway Township, NJ

What I liked

The challenging projects, it was a learning curve for me, which set me prepared on how to work in a fast paced environment

What I wish was different

I wish COVID didn't happen so that I may have experienced the office setting

Advice

Don't be afraid to ask if in doubt of anything. People are very supportive

Summer Analyst

June - August 2020 • New York City, NY

What I liked

It was a great way to see into the heart of the finance industry and work will professionals at all levels.

What I wish was different

It was a remote internship due to COVID-19 so I wish we would have been able to be in person.

Advice

As a student looking for internships apply to all of them and just go for it. You never know what you might be able to get.
