2018 EHS Summer Vacation Replacement
May - September 2018 • Warren, MI
What I liked
I loved everything about this position. The safety team at Warren Truck was absolutely amazing. They taught me so much in just a short period of time and really helped me grow and develop into a more confident leader. I was given the opportunity to train both management and operators on Job Safety Risk Analysis’ and I assisted in all silver expansion safety activities as they were preparing for their World Class Manufacturing Silver Expansion Safety Audit.
What I wish was different
I wish I had been able to stay with the safety department. Unfortunately, they were not able to bring me into the safety department full-time just yet, however, they are hoping I will apply for next years EHS Summer Vacation Replacement position.
Advice
If you get the opportunity to work as an EHS intern with FCA take it, you will not be disappointed! While there, be sure to venture out of your comfort zone, take every opportunity to learn something new, and make the most out of every experience.

Press Engineer
May - August 2018 • Warren, MI
What I liked
Great experience in the automotive industry to see how a vehicle is stamped and assembled. Everyone was super supportive with me as they helped me excel throughout the summer.
What I wish was different
I wouldn't change a thing because it was an amazing experience throughout the whole summer.
Advice
The only thing i can recommend is that you have to intern somewhere. you get paid really well which helps us college students get through the year without any stress. It also helps to get your name out there above other, in my case, engineers in getting the position. Experience, you must get the experience!

World Class Manufacturing Specialist - Intern
June - August 2018 • Belvidere, IL
What I liked
I loved my time with Fiat Chrysler. No two days were ever the same and I learned so much about mass market manufacturing. Everyone I worked with was very eager to share both their expertise and even a few laughs. The overall atmosphere in the plant was one of personal growth and company pride.
What I wish was different
I only wish I could have worked a couple more weeks to see some of my projects fully through!
Advice
When you start an internship, take time to talk to everyone. Each person has something unique to teach you, from the newest employee to the head of the company.

Production Supervisor (Manufacturing)
June - August 2018 • Kokomo, IN
What I liked
The best part of this experience is that I got to work on my leadership skills and learned how to communicate with a variety of people with the intention of maximizing production. From day one I was given an enormous amount of responsibilities that may seem overwhelming to most people, but I enjoyed the challenge and appreciated the trust that my supervisors had in my abilities. It was also difficult for me to gain respect from my machine operators due to my age (most of them had worked there longer than I've been alive). However, it didn't take me very long to prove myself, which gave me confidence in my abilities as a leader..
What I wish was different
The company is unionized, which caused a lot of restrictions on my abilities as a plant supervisor. Anytime an operator was not doing what they were supposed to do, or refused to do the job that I had assigned, I had to work with the union to make sure I was not violating any part of their contracts in determining a course of action. Also, FCA has adopted a "World Class Management" business style, which in my opinion was extremely inefficient and disconnected the plant managers from what was actually happening on the floor.
Advice
Always put your best foot forward and look for the opportunities to grow. I knew going in that I was not interested in automobiles or manufacturing, but I took it as an opportunity to expand my leadership abilities and to see where my interests actually lie.

Supplier Quality Engineering Internship
May - August 2018 • Auburn Hills, MI
What I liked
The job required being a leader and left little room to doubt myself or what I was doing, so it was enriching in how to be a better person and to take control of a situation to get results.
What I wish was different
In terms of the job, there wasn't really anything that I can say could've made it better. The people from the company were welcoming and so helpful with all of my questions and concerns.
Advice
It was a great place to learn about the automotive industry, the fast-pace environment for engineers, and how to be a leader but also work with others. So for students coming in, don't be afraid to ask questions, and for the company, just keep being as welcoming.
