Restaurant Brands International (RBI) - Burger King, Tim Hortons, Popeyes and Firehouse Subs

Rotational Leadership Development Intern

June - August 2023 • Miami, FL

What I liked

A real emphasis on ownership of your project. The project was also very hands-on and actually solved issues in the company.

What I wish was different

The project is entirely open-ended, where you can come to your own conclusions and solutions. That being said, means there are varying levels of guidance upper management can give you. Some may wish for more direction and structure.

Advice

Never be afraid to ask for help, and don't doubt your own opinion. It's easy to get scared or timid in the corporate environment, but don't let it phase you too much.

What I liked

The internship allowed for a lot of growth and learning. The project we were assigned over the summer came with ownership and great responsibility, something that other internships do not necessarily offer. The support from my project team and the Campus Programs team allowed for all of my questions to be answered and I felt as though I could go to them with any concerns. Everyone was super helpful and it led to a great learning experience!

What I wish was different

N/A

Advice

I would tell an incoming intern to ask a lot of questions and meet with people from all different teams. Much of the project is in the interns hands and you have to use your resources to figure things out, and gaining different perspectives from all of the people I met with made it much easier. Becoming familiar with people from different teams and brands was one of the best things I put my time into this summer!

Advice

Anyone working at RBI should take the opportunity to chat with as many people as possible, as it is crucial to understanding the QSR industry, the RBI culture, and finding access to resources that may be helpful in their project.

What I liked

Fast paced environment meritocratic culture

What I wish was different

Very little guidance and oversight from supervisor

Advice

Great job that will tire you out quickly, the compensation is strong but HR is abysmal and as a result there is very low employee retention
