Research Assistant

August 2018 • Charlottesville, VA

What I liked

I really liked my mentor, the other students in my lab, and the project I was working on.

What I wish was different

The nature of my project made the hours a little inflexible, but from what I understand a lot of the other projects had super flexible hours.

Advice

Research is something you can do year round, especially if it's not for credit, so it's okay to start reaching out to professors whenever you want. Also, keep reaching out to professors if you want to do research and don't be discouraged if they don't email back. It took me a year of looking to get this research position.
