What I liked

I went through two technical rounds, one of them was online assessment and another was a face-to-face interview. The interview process was smooth

What I wish was different

The company ghosted me after 2 rounds. Absolutely no idea what they are up to with my application. I event texted the recruiter on Handshake and I didn't hear back from them. Shameful for such a big company.

Advice

They have taken interviews, but then ghosted me afterwards. When we invest so much of time and effort for their interviews, this is very unprofessional for such a big company. I even texted the recruiter, but no response.

What I liked

I had an amazing internship experience at Intuit. I learned a ton about software development and contributed to the project. My mentor helped me every step of the way. Also, I had plenty of time to learn new technologies.

What I wish was different

Advice

I would advise people to work hard during their internship for two reasons: 1. It's your time to learn and contribute as much as you can. 2. You want to show your best self to the manager and the team, so they would recommend hiring you for a full time.

Even though it was in a pandemic the internship still continued online. The people on my team were all nice to work with and willing to help me learn.

I wish there was more time to get to know my coworkers since it was online.

What I liked

Intuit has a great culture. The company is mission driven, and employees are generously compensated for their work. Intuit exemplifies their company values.

What I wish was different

There isn't much home-grown management. Most middle managers have a background in IB or consulting, thus it is difficult to attain management promotions if you start at Intuit. I worked with multiple employees who had worked at Intuit for 5 to 10 years and still hadn't attained even a low-level manager title.

Advice

Bring your technical skills to your internship. Intuit will reward you for being innovative on the job. Be proactive, not just reactive to your manager's requests.

Small Business Consultant

What I liked

Real experience working through full sail cycle from lead generation to processing sale. A team-based selling approach where you are allotted the opportunity to share your successes and failures to benefit the team and improve campaign success. Additionally, it is encouraged you spend 10% of your working outside your immediate role to improve yourself, your team, or the company as a whole.

What I wish was different

The internship was a great experience. The team clicked immediately and there were plenty of opportunities to network at events like baseball games, bowling, and escape rooms. One area of discerning was the long commute to the office. The office is located between DC and Richmond in a small town called Fredricksburg. The intern group opted to live in Richmond which entails an hour commute. The company assigned groups to rental cars covered gas and accommodations in Richmond so still a good trade-off.

Advice

Senior and executive leadership on-site is excited to meet and share experiences with interns. Make sure to go out of your way to seek the advice of leaders because they will take the time to meet with you and you will learn from their incredible experiences.

What I liked

Interning as a front-end engineer at Intuit was a fantastic experience. Intuit truly values personal growth both as an engineer and as a person. My team was willing to spend time teaching me whatever was needed. As an intern, I was able to push products to production for millions of customers to use. I was challenged to learn as much as possible and ended up learning new front-end frameworks, Intuit's A/B testing platform, and how to build a widget from scratch. Additionally, Intuit made the experience super fun by giving its interns cars for the summer, holding an Intern Summit, and (nearly weekly) events that benefited and were fun for all of the employees!

What I wish was different

I wish that Intuit was based in San Francisco rather than Mountain View. I didn't love the South Bay.

Advice

As an intern, you're thrown into a company with a lot of moving parts. I would recommend making a conscious effort to get to know as many people, teams, tools, and groups as possible. Try to have a coffee chat with someone, at least once a week! And don't be afraid to attend any events or workshops, even if you have no experience in that area!

What I liked

I really enjoyed the work I got to do. I was put on a team with the goal of migration the service to utilizing Kubernetes, and in the process of doing so I had the opportunity to learn a ton about kubernetes as well as work with an amazing group of individuals. Being the one of the first individuals to pick up kubernetes on the platform, I was also given the chance to streamline the process for new services and really set the pattern for the use of kubernetes in the company.

What I wish was different

I wish I had spent more time working on the service itself so I could further improve my skills in Java coding.

Advice

Something I learned from Intuit that I would say applies to everyone, fall in love with the problem and not the solution. I had the opportunity to be one of the firsts to adapt kubernetes to a service in the Identity Platform. In doing so I also came across several problems which had many solutions, and the decisions were impactful as future services would utilize this service as the building block for what to do. I had the opportunity to work with several individuals in the process of refining the solutions to find one that works best for the teams across Identity and not just the service I was working on.

What I liked

I was part of a high-priority team working on a new initiative which was extremely exciting. They treated me like a full-time employee by giving me lots of responsibilities which helped me to grow a lot as a designer. I loved my team and the company as a whole has great benefits and customer-driven. The internship is a very sweet deal!

What I wish was different

Advice

Make sure to voice your thoughts to your manager and let them know if you want more responsibility because it will help you grow a lot in the few months you're there.

What I liked

I loved how Intuit was able to host an info session with Intuit. Was able to stand out as an applicant amongst a sea of graduate students.

What I wish was different

Though I was fortunate enough to stick out amongst graduate students, many of my peers were unaware of info session happening outside of the career fair. Reaching out to the computer science club could go a long way in getting the news out there.

Advice

Whiteboard interview preparation cannot be rushed. I took time everyday for two months to prepare for my interviews so when the right employer came along, I was ready to hit it out of the park.

What I liked

I loved the culture and people. Everyone was invested in helping me learn new things. They also had me work on projects that didn’t feel like busy work, so I felt like my work was meaningful. On my 3rd day I had already written code that went to production for thousands of customers.

What I wish was different

I wish they had informed me my location and team placement earlier, but it all worked out great in the end.
